Elgin Mews

A complete reinvention of a discreet mews house in West London, this project combines elegant restraint with richly atmospheric interiors, delivered in collaboration with Xami Design Studio.

Behind its modest façade, the home now spans four levels, including a newly excavated basement that houses a dedicated gymnasium and an immersive cinema room. Above, a new staircase in oak and blackened steel serves as the project’s spine, flooded with natural light from an oversized rooflight and detailed with minimalist glass balustrading.

At first-floor level, a green-stone kitchen anchors the open-plan living space, combining dark cabinetry, brass fixtures and a herringbone backsplash in a palette that is at once contemporary and timeless. Bespoke joinery, feature lighting and soft curves bring tactile warmth to the restrained architectural shell.

Throughout, bold colour blocking, natural oak and honed marble balance drama and calm—from the deep claret tones of the cinema to the crisp geometry and playful finishes of the bathrooms. The result is a carefully layered and technically accomplished home, designed to strike a balance between comfort and performance within a compact urban footprint.
