Austell Gardens

A bold architectural transformation of a substantial detached home, this project strikes a balance between scale and intimacy, pairing sculptural brick extensions with luxurious interior detailing and spatial drama.

Working alongside The Vawdrey House, this full refurbishment saw the reimagining of every level, including two striking new additions in dark engineering brick. One houses a light-filled kitchen and dining space, while the other accommodates a fully glazed gymnasium with views across the landscaped garden. Both extensions feature sedum roofs, which soften their visual impact and reinforce the home’s connection to nature.

The entrance experience was entirely reworked, featuring a new bespoke staircase that rises through a dramatic double-height entrance void to a first-floor library and internal balcony. Elsewhere, new spaces include a dedicated cinema room, a handcrafted wine cellar, and serene new bathrooms with fluted detailing and natural stone finishes.

Inside, a rich palette of materials, burnished metals, dark-stained timber, polished concrete, and green marble adds texture and warmth. A deep picture window and integrated fireplace invite moments of stillness, while floor-to-ceiling glazing opens the living spaces to the tiered garden beyond.

Confident yet considered, this project delivers a home of enduring elegance, designed for entertaining, wellbeing and everyday ease.
