Full refurbishment and extensions

A transformation of a substantial detached home that balances scale with intimacy, pairing sculptural brick extensions with rich interior detail and real spatial drama.

Working with The Vawdrey House, we reworked every level and added two new volumes in dark engineering brick. One holds a light-filled kitchen and dining space; the other a fully glazed gymnasium looking across the landscaped garden. Both carry sedum roofs that soften their presence and tie the house to its setting.

The entrance was rebuilt around a new staircase rising through a double-height void to a first-floor library and internal balcony. New spaces include a cinema room, a handcrafted wine cellar, and calm bathrooms in fluted joinery and natural stone.

Inside, a rich palette of burnished metals, dark-stained timber, polished concrete, and green marble adds texture and warmth throughout.
